A small alive

Made the week the Florida Keys reef held at DHW 7.8. Alert level 2. Severe bleaching and mortality likely across the middle reef.

The piece is not a lament. It is a portrait of what continues to be alive underneath the loss. Three surviving polyps of different species, on different rhythms. One fish still passing. Particles rising. The reef is dying, and also the reef is not only dying. Both are true.

A three-second loop. Not for a project. Not for fundraising. For the reef itself. Because a thing that dies without a witness dies twice.
